Avoid The Scams in Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Parkland, Pompano Beach, and the Surrounding Areas
Over the years the efficiency that homes have been built with has continually improved. This is great when it comes to your energy bills but it also means that your indoor air doesn’t exchange much with the outdoor air, making the indoor air in your Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Parkland, Pompano Beach, or the surrounding area home often worse than the outdoor air.
Air duct scammers know this and will try to exploit your lack of HVAC knowledge to sell you on their sub-par services. At Air Quality Control Environmental we follow the cleaning guidelines of NADCA so that our customers can feel confident that they are getting exactly what they are paying for.
“Blow-and-Go” And Other Scams
This kind of scam has happened so often it has earned its own name: blow-and-go. The company shows up, vacuums out some vents, and maybe does a bit more work, and then packs up and leaves with the money you paid them in advance. They hardly did anything yet you are out of money. In some cases, they will come back after a few minutes with a list of “needed” repairs or other up-sells to clean out your air ducts.
Sometimes the scam happens once they are in the door with a cut rate. They will inspect your HVAC system and then start piling on the added charges. Often times these added charges are merely things that a reputable air duct cleaning company would include in their normal rate anyway, but the scamming outfit will make these charges higher and will make it seem like this is commonplace. Don’t fall for it and start asking questions, including asking to see their NADCA certification.
What It Takes to be a NADCA Member
Some scammers might say they are NADCA members but they really aren’t. They are banking on you not checking the NADCA website to verify if they are members or not. NADCA members must have at least one staff member that is certified as an Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS). Members must also maintain general liability insurance which is there to protect the business as well as the customer’s home. NADCA members will also follow the cleaning guidelines that the organization has put out with the customer in mind.
